Batavia Air just sent its first Airbus A330 to Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Co. (GAMECO) for a C check under a five-year general agreement, which covers Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 aircraft. GAMECO will perform a C9 check, implement service bulletins and engineering orders, and clean this A330 aircraft. The MRO expects to complete the work package in February.
Batavia, based in Indonesia, has sent 737 and A320 to the MRO before, but so far most have been A320s, according to David Conrad, GAMECO’s director of international sales and marketing.
In general, “we see more Boeing 737 and A320 family aircraft just because these are the largest fleets in China and at China Southern. We are seeing increases in Boeing 777 and A330s as these fleets come up for maintenance.”
GAMECO is based at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou and is a joint venture between China Southern Airlines and Hutchison Whampoa Aircraft Investment Co.
