Mubadala Aerospace is making progress toward the eventual merger of its two maintenance, repair and overhaul subsidiaries in Zurich and Abu Dhabi, says Mubadala Aerospace senior business development manager Abdulla Shadid. Mubadala, which functions as the aerospace investment arm of Abu Dhabi, has held a controlling number of shares in Zurich-based SR Technics since April 2009, and it took over Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT), the former GAMCO operation, in November 2007.
“We continue to work on [the merger of SR Technics and Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies,]” Shadid says, noting that much progress has been made in the last 12 months. “Airlines are being approached with a Mubadala network-type offering.”
The ultimate objective, Shadid confirmed, is to unify the two companies under a global brand. “Behind the scenes,” he says, “a lot of that work has gone into place.”
