Empty Leg Charter Flights Offered By ACI

Private jet travelers can take advantage of less expensive flights by taking advantage of an empty legs program created by Dubai-based Air Charter International (ACI). The program that allows travelers to book flights on trips that have been already planned and paid for. “Chartering empty legs gives the client an opportunity to charter an executive jet at 40% less cost than what the actual rate of the same charter would be without using an empty leg,” says the company’s strategic business manager, Claire Brugirard. Customers can only book empty legs on flights that are already planned and most of the time also already paid for, says Brugirard. “For example, customer A has planned a trip from Washington D.C. to San Francisco. After dropping the passengers off in San Francisco, the aircraft will fly back to Washington empty,” she says. “Another customer could then use the empty leg that is already planned, and pay less than if the client were to pay the regular charter rate.” The ideal customer for empty legs is ideally someone who charters a lot to the same destination, has some flexibility in their schedule and who sees the added value of a broker doing the search and finding the matching empty leg for them, says Brugirard.
