Lufthansa Orders Eight More Embraer 195s

Lufthansa has placed an order for an additional eight Embraer 195s in a deal valued at a list price of $338 million. The additional order makes the group the largest E-jet operator in Europe, according to Embraer.

Most of the 30 Embraer 190s and 195s ordered in 2007 have already been delivered to Lufthansa.

The aircraft currently in service have been allocated to Augsburg Airways, Lufthansa CityLine and Air Dolomiti.

Following the conclusion of a more liberal scope clause agreement with its pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), Lufthansa can integrate more regional jets into its regional schemes. They are staffed with a mixture of mainline and regional pilots.

The order was approved by Lufthansa’s supervisory board in September, but the contract was signed only now.
