Germany’s 328 Support Services GmbH has unveiled the 328DBJ VIP jet, which will replace the current Envoy business jet product.
“Envoy was our factory-produced VIP aircraft, and we’ve done around 15 conversions,” the company’s Roy Mosses, head of sales, tells Aviation Week. “Since 328 production stopped [in 2004], the Envoy interior was out of date in today’s market, and we were ready to update its 1990s design.”
Support Services has been able to increase cabin space by nearly a half a meter by redesigning the galley and wardrobe area in the front of the aircraft,” says Mosses. “We’ve installed electric window shades, a satellite phone system and a wireless LAN system. We’ve also made available an HD-enabled IFE with Dolby surround sound.”
Support Services’ 328DBJ offers good value for the money, says Mosses. “The 328DJB costs 30% less than a new aircraft, with the same interior as a [Bombardier] Challenger 604 or 605,” he states. “Our aircraft is as new as we can make it, and you’ll pay more for a Bombardier or Embraer jet. We call the 328DBJ affordable luxury.”
“The 328DBJ has a low unit cost price per airframe of around $3-6 million (unconverted or modified) and refurbishment can range between $4-6 million depending on the customers taste,” says Mosses.
The company is currently working on two aircraft for delivery by the second quarter of 2011. “I have one aircraft currently available for conversion. I can also convert existing aircraft,” says Mosses.
